An award-winning documentary of the invasion of Normandy in World War II, using rare archival films and pictures from British, American, and German archives. The narrator provides the overall continuity, but the voices of over 50 participants who were involved in the staging of the invasion in Britain or were on the beaches of France bring the images to life.

Using real explosives and modern technology paired with moving interviews with the last surviving veterans, the film makers give a new perspective on the hardships and horrors experienced in the European theater of operations.

This is a shortened version of the 1945 Republic serial "The Purple Monster Strikes," which was released to television in 1966.

The 'Secrets of D-Day' made it possible for the Allies to finally strike Hitler on the shores of occupied France, which paved the way to ending World War II. The level of deception in planning the invasion was extraordinary: using intricate schemes, a network of double crossing agents, and special code-cracking machines.

A story of the men who put battling machines to ultimate test-the ordinary soldiers who participated in the greatest amphibious invasion in history.

Could the Allies have won the war without aviation? Discover what went on behind the scenes of the historical air battle in Normandy.

Following the lives of ten characters through their letters and diaries in the ten days before D-Day. The mini-series contains documentary interviews with the people on which the book, and this mini-series were based.
